Football Recap: Calexico Piles Up the Points Against Holtville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Calexico). They breezed past the Holtville Vikings to the tune of 47-13 on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won six in a row.

Lizbeth Ortiz had a dynamite game, picking up 75 receiving yards and one TD, while also throwing for 54 yards and a pair of touchdowns. She was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 66 yards. Another receiver making a difference was Kenya Herrera, who picked up 35 receiving yards and two scores.

Calexico didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ortiz and Yanelle Gil. Ortiz got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Calexico's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Holtville, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
