Volleyball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Ava

Ava had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Houston Tigers. The game was the first time the Bears have beaten the Tigers on their court since October 3, 2019.

The victory didn't come easy: Houston scored at least 19 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-19, 17-25, 25-21.

Tessa Dobrovits paced Ava's offense, picking up 14 kills. Dobrovits got some help from Claire McDonald and her 29 assists. Sofia Valbuzzi controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

When it comes to explaining why Houston lost, don't look at Gracyn McNiell. Despite the final result, she had 14 digs.

Ava's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 11-12-2. As for Houston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-9-3.

Ava didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Miller on the 18th. As for Houston, they have also already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Mountain Grove on the 21st.
