Hurricane hasn't had much luck against Crimson Cliffs recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Hurricane will face off against Crimson Cliffs at 7:30 p.m.
On Friday, Hurricane didn't have quite enough to beat Cedar and fell 4-3. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Hurricane saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Fitzgerald, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. That's the most hits Fitzgerald has posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Crimson Cliffs had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against the Cowboys. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted since March 8th.
MASON ANDERSON looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, MCKAY WRIGHT was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of JOSH GRAY, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Crimson Cliffs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .565. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Crimson Cliffs' record is now 8-4. As for Hurricane, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Hurricane has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Crimson Cliffs struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Hurricane suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Crimson Cliffs in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Hurricane avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
