Softball Recap: Rickover Naval Sets Scoring Season-High Against Prosser

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rickover Naval). They put the hurt on the Prosser Falcons with a sharp 27-5 win on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Seadragons sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Soli Correa was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Correa was even better at the plate, firing off three stolen bases, eight RBI, and three runs while going 5-for-5. Those eight RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kayla Mateo was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, five runs, and four RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sofia Fuentes, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Rickover Naval kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 11.6.

Rickover Naval's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 22.0 runs over those games. As for Prosser, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.

Coming up, Rickover Naval will face off against Jones at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Prosser will be paying especially close attention to the Seadragons' contest: after the Seadragons face off against the Eagles, they'll take on Prosser again at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
