Basketball Recap: Ethel Comes Up Short

Ethel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 59-51 loss to the Clarkdale Bulldogs.

Cade Culpepper continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Clarkdale, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 12 boards. With that strong performance, Culpepper is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game. Another player making a difference was Nathan Moore, who posted 12 points.

Ethel's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Clarkdale, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ethel will head out to take on Noxapater at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Clarkdale, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Union at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
