Softball Recap: Utica Comes Up Short

Utica was the 12-2 winner over L'Anse Creuse North when they last played one another back in April, but their luck changed this time around. The Chieftains took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crusaders on Thursday. The Chieftains' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Utica saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rachel Durecki, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Utica's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for L'Anse Creuse North, their record now sits at 11-12.

Coming up, Utica will welcome Sterling Heights Stevenson at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Chieftains are facing the Titans at the right time seeing as the Titans are stuck on a 19-game losing streak. As for L'Anse Creuse North, they will venture away from home to take on St. Clair at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Saints' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Crusaders' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
