Football Game Preview: Newton Rams vs. Buford Wolves + Official Tickets

The Newton Rams will take on the Buford Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Newton sitting on five straight victories and Buford on 11.

Newton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They strolled past Peachtree Ridge with points to spare, taking the game 33-14. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Lions are ranked 85th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Darius White and Kevin Hartsfield. White rushed for 152 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.4 yards per carry while Hartsfield rushed for 185 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards Hartsfield has posted since back in August.

Newton's run defense was locked in: Peachtree Ridge could only muster three yards per carry. The Rams didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.5.

Meanwhile, Buford never let their opponents score on Friday. They breezed past Richmond Hill to the tune of 45-0. Considering the Wolves have won nine contests by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Newton better keep an eye on Dayton Raiola. He was instrumental in Buford's win, throwing for 224 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt. Torre Costin was in the mix as well, providing the Wolves with two scores.

Newton's record now sits at 8-3. As for Buford, their record is now 11-0.

Newton was taken down by Buford 42-14 in their previous matchup back in September of 2019. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
