Baseball Game Preview: West Anchorage Eagles vs. Bartlett Golden Bears

The West Anchorage Eagles will head out to face off against the Bartlett Golden Bears at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. West Anchorage is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

West Anchorage is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Chugiak, who was ranked 15th at the time (West Anchorage was ranked 13th). The Eagles lost 16-5 to the Mustangs on Thursday.

Jack Boots was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Bartlett's offense. They came up short against Service last Monday, falling 13-0. The Golden Bears have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Bartlett's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for West Anchorage, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. West Anchorage has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bartlett struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
