Basketball Preview: Warsaw Tigers vs. Wawasee Warriors

It was a proper cat-fight when Warsaw duked it out with NorthWood on Tuesday. The Tigers took their contest with ease, bagging an 84-15 victory over the Panthers. With the Tigers ahead 38-8 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Joslyn Bricker had another great game (as she tends to do), going 9-for-12 on her way to 24 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Her evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Zartman, who shot 47% from the field to rack up 23 points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Warsaw was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 56-15, which was the final score in Wawasee's tilt against Elkhart Christian Academy on Thursday. The Warriors were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

Despite the defeat, Wawasee saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Scarlett Hardy posted three points and five boards. Hardy has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Audra Weaver also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Warsaw's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Wawasee, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Warsaw hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 64.4 points per game. It's a different story for Wawasee, though, as they've been averaging only 30.1 points. The only thing between Warsaw and another offensive beatdown is the Warriors.
