Softball Recap: Youngsville Eagles vs. Iroquois Braves
Youngsville extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-6 in the process. They came up short against the Iroquois Braves, falling 7-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Braves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-1 back in April.
As for Iroquois, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games.
For Iroquois' part, Phoenix Thomas was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Thomas has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Riann Donoghue was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kylie Miller, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Youngsville has already played their next game (against Kane), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Iroquois, they have also already played their next contest, a 14-0 defeat against Seneca on the 13th.
