Volleyball Preview: Avon Pirates vs. Ethan Rustlers
On Monday Avon will have to hit the road after four straight games at home. They will challenge the Ethan Rustlers at 6:30 p.m.
Last Thursday, Avon didn't have quite enough to beat Centerville and fell 3-2.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Avon sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 16-25, 25-17, 18-25, 16-14.
Despite the defeat, Avon saw an underclassman step up: Jordyn Voigt had 19 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Voigt has posted since back in September.
Meanwhile, everything went Ethan's way against Howard on Tuesday as Ethan made off with a 3-0 victory.
Ethan never let Howard on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-17, 25-22.
Avon's loss dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Ethan, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.
