Baseball Recap: Louisville Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Archbishop Hoban hit Louisville with a four-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Leopards might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 8-4 to the Knights, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Leopards of the 7-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Louisville got a good showing from Blake Johnson, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. What's more, Johnson gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Jake Beard made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Cooper Rice was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

Louisville's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-8. As for Archbishop Hoban, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

While Louisville had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
