Softball Recap: Chicago Hope Academy Comes Up Short

Chicago Hope Academy extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 5-5 in the process. They lost 16-7 to the Marian Central Catholic Hurricanes. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Chicago Hope Academy of the 6-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Andi Medina was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Medina was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Xochitl Rodriguez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Emma Lopez was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Marian Central Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. The contest marked their most dominant victory of the season.

On Marian Central Catholic's side, Natalia Lara was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave Lara a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Bailey Keller, who went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases and three runs.

Chicago Hope Academy has already played their next game, a 15-0 defeat against De La Salle on the 22nd. Hopefully Marian Central Catholic paid attention to Chicago Hope Academy's matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on Chicago Hope Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
