Softball Recap: Chatham Central Starts Season with Victory at Home

Chatham Central took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. They blew past the Eastern Randolph Wildcats 12-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bears also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2022.

Maddie Kaczmarczyk made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Kaczmarczyk was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Maeson Smith was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sallie Oldham, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Coming up, Chatham Central will challenge Eastern Randolph at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Eastern Randolph, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on North Davidson at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
