Cibola is 8-2 against Albuquerque since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Cibola Cougars will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Albuquerque Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.

Cibola is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Manzano. Cibola's pitchers stepped up to hand Manzano an 11-0 shutout on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Monarchs: they've now won four in a row.

Elias Miera looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Cibola got a big performance out of Derrick Chee, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jacob Segotta, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Cibola was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Manzano only posted a batting average of .143.

Meanwhile, Albuquerque took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Highland with a sharp 10-4 win.

Everything went Cibola's way against Albuquerque in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Cibola made off with a 13-3 victory. Will Cibola repeat their success, or does Albuquerque have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
