Basketball Recap: Calipatria Takes a Loss

Calipatria was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 65-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Central Spartans. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 68-53 back in December of 2024.

It was another big night for Daimaggio Wyatt, who went 9 for 15 en route to 20 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks for Central. Those three blocks gave Wyatt a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joap Soto Chavez, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Calipatria's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calipatria will welcome Imperial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Calexico at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th.
