Preview: High Point Central Bison vs. Oak Grove Grizzlies
The High Point Central Bison will head out on the road to face off against the Oak Grove Grizzlies at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: High Point Central has struggled recently with 30 defeats in a row, while Oak Grove will arrive with four straight victories.
Last Tuesday, High Point Central took a serious blow against Dudley, falling 86-1. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points High Point Central has scored all season.
Mauriyanna Brown was High Point Central's leading scorer, having posted a point.
Oak Grove has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 33 points or more this season. They really took it to Eastern Randolph for the full four quarters, racking up a 62-29 victory at home. Given Oak Grove's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Eastern Randolph is ranked 398th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
High Point Central bumped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Oak Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
High Point Central was dealt a bruising 61-16 loss at the hands of Oak Grove in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point High Point Central was down 39-8.
