Basketball Recap: Dowagiac Comes Up Short

Dowagiac extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 3-14. The contest between the Chieftains and the New Buffalo Bison didn't end well, with the Chieftains falling 69-50. The Chieftains were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bison apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2025.

As for New Buffalo, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points over those games.

Lucas Forker had another great game (as he tends to do), dropping a double-double with 22 points and 16 boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 8.3 rebounds per game. Another player making a difference was Nick Haskins, who posted eight points and six steals.

Dowagiac wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 68-32 loss against St. Joseph on the 16th. As for New Buffalo, they will challenge Countryside Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
