Baseball Game Preview: DeRidder Dragons vs. Merryville Panthers

DeRidder has gone a perfect 7-0 against Merryville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The DeRidder Dragons will look to defend their home field against the Merryville Panthers at 12:00 p.m. DeRidder will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times DeRidder and Leesville have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. DeRidder came out on top against Leesville by a score of 8-4. That's two games straight that the Dragons have won by exactly four runs.

Meanwhile, Merryville came up short against Anacoco on Thursday and fell 9-6. The Panthers have struggled against the Indians recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.

Blaze Brister made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerimaya Robinson, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Merryville's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for DeRidder, their victory bumped their record up to 9-14.

DeRidder took their win against Merryville when the teams last played back in March of 2021 by a conclusive 10-2. Will DeRidder repeat their success, or does Merryville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
