Basketball Recap: Dr. Krop Comes Up Short

Dr. Krop was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the American Patriots and fell 69-36. While losing is never fun, the Lightning can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 578th, while the Patriots are ranked 208th).

Despite the loss, Dr. Krop saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Johans Richards dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Richards' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Anigh Gracia, who posted six points and five steals.

American's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Angel Torres, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 15 points. Charles Quincy Robinson was another key player, going 5 of 8 en route to 11 points and six boards.

Dr. Krop's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for American, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Dr. Krop wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 65-26 loss against Norland on the 29th. As for American, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 73-37 victory against Hialeah-Miami Lakes on the 30th.
