Baseball Game Preview: Fairfield Falcons vs. West Campus Warriors

For the second straight game, Fairfield will face off against West Campus. The Falcons will welcome the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fairfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.

Fairfield's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past West Campus 23-0. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Pat O'Reilly made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Donavan Luu was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-6. Another player making a difference was Desten Torrence, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.

Fairfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .564. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in six consecutive matchups.

Fairfield is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for West Campus, they moved to 12-6 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.
