Baseball Recap: Gueydan's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Gueydan came into Tuesday's matchup having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy Tigers on Tuesday, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted since March 6th.

Shawn Perrin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up 15 Ks. He has become a key player for Gueydan: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-14 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Gueydan saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ashton Lasalle, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Gueydan's win bumped their record up to 5-15. As for Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy, they dropped their record down to 2-16 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.

Gueydan has already played their next game, a 22-4 victory against V.B. Glencoe Charter on the 11th. As for Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 5-4 win against Hicks on the 12th.
