Baseball Game Preview: Spring Creek Gators vs. Eastern Wayne Warriors

Spring Creek is 2-7 against Eastern Wayne since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Gators will look to defend their home field against the Warriors at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Wayne took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Spring Creek, who comes in off a win.

Spring Creek's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Wayne Preparatory Academy as they made off with a 16-0 win. Considering the Gators have won four games by more than ten runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Braden Bell was a standout: he scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Spring Creek's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 1-7 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Rylan Kornegay, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Eastern Wayne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Beddingfield, falling 12-1. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by exactly 11 runs.

Eastern Wayne saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dominick F, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1. F also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Eastern Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Spring Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.

Spring Creek took their win against Eastern Wayne in their previous matchup on Tuesday by a conclusive 15-4 score. Will the Gators repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
