Basketball Recap: Devonte Wade's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Amherst County over Jefferson Forest

Amherst County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They came up short against the Jefferson Forest Cavaliers, falling 59-37. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 73-50 back in January.

Amherst County's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Devonte Wade, who posted 11 points along with seven boards and three steals. Those seven rebounds gave Wade a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Levi Campbell, who earned six points.

Amherst County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-20. As for Jefferson Forest, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Amherst County will venture away from home to challenge Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jefferson Forest, they will face off against Liberty Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jefferson Forest has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 181 points over their last three contests.
