Basketball Recap: Chatham Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

Chatham won the last time they faced Gretna, and Jakiyah Giggetts did her part to make sure it happened again. The Chatham Cavaliers enjoyed a cozy 63-46 win over the Gretna Hawks on Tuesday thanks in part to Giggetts, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Chatham's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Mykaela Logan, who went 5 of 9 en route to 12 points and five boards. Those 12 points gave her a new career-high.

When it comes to explaining why Gretna lost, don't look at Shakira Jones. Despite the final result, she posted 21 points. Jones' evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Chinara Miller was another key player, putting up 11 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Chatham and bumps their season record up to 10-2. As for Gretna, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4.

Chatham wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 55-35 defeat against Magna Vista on the 23rd. As for Gretna, they will face off against William Campbell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Gretna is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.6 points per game this season.
