Softball Game Preview: Abingdon/Avon Tornadoes vs. Bureau Valley Storm

The Abingdon/Avon Tornadoes are taking a road trip to square off against the Bureau Valley Storm at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither Abingdon/Avon nor Bureau Valley posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Abingdon/Avon managed to slip by Annawan-Wethersfield the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Tornadoes lost 9-1 to the Titans on Thursday. The Tornadoes' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Abingdon/Avon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Tracey, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Taylor Ford was another, going 3-for-4 with one run.

Meanwhile, Bureau Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Stark County.

Carly Reglin spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

Abingdon/Avon's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Bureau Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.
