Preview: Van Horn Eagles vs. Sierra Blanca Vaqueros
Van Horn is 10-0 against Sierra Blanca since January of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Van Horn Eagles will be playing at home against the Sierra Blanca Vaqueros at 7:30 p.m. Van Horn is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
Van Horn posted their biggest victory yet this season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Big Bend 73-12 on the road. The win was just what Van Horn needed coming off of a 57-34 loss in their prior match.
Gio Corralez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with six steals and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Joey Anchondo was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Meanwhile, Sierra Blanca ended up a good deal behind Marfa on Tuesday and lost 44-29.
Van Horn is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. As for Sierra Blanca, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Van Horn beat Sierra Blanca 48-38 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Will Van Horn repeat their success, or does Sierra Blanca have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
