Volleyball Recap: Notre Dame Academy Falls Short Against Ranked Assumption

Notre Dame Academy faced Assumption in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Pandas came up short against the Rockets, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Pandas have suffered against the Rockets since October 12, 2023.

Notre Dame Academy was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-19, 25-14.

Dara Jackson and Lizzy Larkins certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Jackson had 17 digs and three assists, while Larkins had 18 assists and five digs. Larkins has been hot, having posted 16 or more assists the last five times she's played.

Assumption's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kathryn O'Toole, who had 11 digs.

Notre Dame Academy's loss ended a three-match streak of away wins and brought them to 23-7. As for Assumption, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 30-4.

Notre Dame Academy has already played their next contest (against Ryle), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Assumption, they will venture away from home to take on DuPont Manual at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
