Softball Recap: East Central Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact East Central can now relate to. They fell just short of the Whiteland Warriors by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. The Trojans' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Paige Hotze spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, East Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily Klem, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

East Central's loss dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Whiteland, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-8.

East Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Whiteland, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 11-1 victory against Franklin Community on the 28th.
