Volleyball Recap: Our Lady of the Elms Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Our Lady of the Elms unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Barberton Magics on Thursday, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-11, 25-9.

Barberton can attribute much of their success to Katie Rodriguez, who had 14 assists and seven aces. Those seven aces gave Rodriguez a new career-high.

Barberton has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Our Lady of the Elms has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against First Baptist Christian on the 26th. As for Barberton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Cuyahoga Falls on the 26th.
