Softball Game Preview: Sunset Apollos vs. Sandy Pioneers

The Sunset Apollos are taking a road trip to face off against the Sandy Pioneers at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sunset will come into the match with an undefeated record on the line.

Sunset's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Cleveland with a sharp 17-0 victory. That's two games straight that the Apollos have won by exactly 17 runs.

Keana Cooper was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Sunset got a massive performance out of Dajah Paz, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Jordan Pe?a, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Sunset always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Sandy earned a 6-3 win over Lake Oswego on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pioneers.

Sandy pushed their record up to 2-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Sunset, their record now sits at 4-0.
