Whitney Young won the last time they faced Lane Tech, and Destiny Jackson did her part to make sure it happened again. The Whitney Young Dolphins took their matchup on Wednesday with ease, bagging an 80-47 win over the Lane Tech Champions thanks in part to Jackson, who almost dropped a double-double with 29 points and nine boards. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2024.

Nina Lloyd was another key player, putting up eight points and four steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game.

Lane Tech's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lucy Mehlis, who went 5-for-8 on her way to 10 points. Mehlis is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Ella Cirton also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Whitney Young has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.6 points over those games. As for Lane Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 17-12.

Looking ahead, Whitney Young will face off against Kenwood at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Kenwood comes in on seven and Whitney Young on four. As for Lane Tech, they will square off against Maine East at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lane Tech is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.7 points per game this season.
