Softball Game Preview: Swanton Bulldogs vs. Archbold Blue Streaks

The Swanton Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Archbold Blue Streaks at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Swanton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Archbold will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Swanton extended their winning streak to three on Thursday. The Bulldogs blew past Evergreen 11-4. Considering the Bulldogs have won five matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Beyla Remer made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Remer was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jordyn Ramirez, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lacey Shinaver, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Swanton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Archbold owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They came out on top against Bryan by a score of 4-0. Winning may never get old, but the Blue Streaks sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Swanton's record is now 6-7. As for Archbold, their record now sits at 6-3.

Swanton suffered a grim 19-6 defeat to Archbold in their previous meeting last Saturday. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
