Preview: Roland Rangers vs. Sallisaw Black Diamonds
Roland is 9-1 against Sallisaw since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the pair will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Roland has five straight wins, Sallisaw has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Tuesday, Roland beat Checotah 57-46. Given Roland's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Checotah is ranked 291st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sallisaw suffered their biggest loss yet this season last Friday. They were outmatched by Stilwell on the road and fell 76-33.
Roland's win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Sallisaw, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
Roland strolled past Sallisaw in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 38-21. Does Roland have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sallisaw turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
