Preview: Veritas Christian Academy Warriors vs. Brevard Blue Devils

The Veritas Christian Academy Warriors and the Brevard Blue Devils will round out the year against one another at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Even though Tabernacle Christian scored an imposing 64 points on Monday, Veritas Christian Academy still came out on top. Veritas Christian Academy slipped by Tabernacle Christian 65-64. Given Veritas Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Tabernacle Christian is ranked 340th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Brevard had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against T.C. Roberson by a score of 75-64 on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Brevard got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tre Crite out in front who scored 21 points along with six rebounds. The match was Crite's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Griffin, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and three steals.

Veritas Christian Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.5 points per game. As for Brevard, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-5.

Veritas Christian Academy suffered a grim 55-35 defeat to Brevard in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Veritas Christian Academy, Jaylen Brown (who scored 13 points along with six rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
