Recap: Skyview Wolverines vs. Thornton Trojans

The Skyview Wolverines's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. They took a 58-42 bruising from Thornton. Skyview found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and rack up seven fewer assists than your opponent.

Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Matthias Ortega, who scored 18 points. That's the first time this season that Ortega scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Froy Morales, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.

Clayton Jones was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks for Thornton. That makes it three consecutive games in which Jones has scored at least a third of Thornton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gerardo Cepeda, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.

Skyview has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season. As for Thornton, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.

Skyview will head out on the road to take on Adams City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Thornton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kennedy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
