Baseball Game Preview: Saugus Centurions vs. Murrieta Mesa Rams

The Saugus Centurions will take on the Murrieta Mesa Rams at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Saugus is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Saugus is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 22-3 margin over Wiseburn- Da Vinci. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Centurions.

Zackery Seeley was incredible, firing off two home runs, nine RBI, and three runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Kaden Haag, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

Saugus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Murrieta Mesa came out on top against Santa Monica on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Rams' pitcher stepped up to hand the Vikings a 6-0 shutout. The Rams not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 15th (when they won 8-1).

Not much got past Tanner Blackmon, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Santa Monica off the board. Blackmon has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alex Goettman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Caleb Wagner also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Saugus pushed their record up to 17-12 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Murrieta Mesa, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-12 record this season.
