Softball Game Preview: Palisades Dolphins vs. Westchester Comets

Palisades is a perfect 10-0 against Westchester since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 3:00 p.m. Palisades is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Palisades had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Fairfax two weeks ago. The Dolphins were the clear victors by an 18-8 margin over the Lions. The Dolphins haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Sarah Feldman looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kharlee Sanders was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Celia Elisha was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, one triple, and one double.

Palisades kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Westchester fell victim to University and their airtight pitching crew last Thursday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. The Comets just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Palisades now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Westchester, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Everything went Palisades' way against Westchester when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Palisades made off with a 19-0 victory. Do the Dolphins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Comets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
