Volleyball Recap: Burton Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Burton challenged St. John XXIII on Saturday. The Panthers fell just short of the Lions by a score of 2-1. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Lions when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Burton's offense was headlined by Aerynn Huntsman and Laci Broesche, who picked up six kills apiece. They got some help from Adison Harmel and her 17 assists. Finally, Lexi Broesche kept Burton's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Burton's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for St. John XXIII, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-4.

Burton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Weimar on the 16th. As for St. John XXIII, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against Sealy on the 16th.
