Basketball Game Preview: Lakewood Cougars vs. Marysville Getchell

Lakewood and Marysville Getchell are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the Lakewood Cougars will get right back to it and host Marysville Getchell at 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Lakewood's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

On Tuesday, Lakewood slipped by Mount Vernon 56-55.

Meanwhile, Marysville Getchell was able to grind out a solid victory over Stanwood on Friday, taking the game 65-55. Given Marysville Getchell's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while Stanwood is ranked 262nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Marysville Getchell's win came from a few key players Lakewood will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Arion Palacol, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds. His evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Rice, who posted 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

The win made it two in a row for Marysville Getchell and bumps their season record up to 7-4. As for Lakewood, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
