Baseball Game Recap: Knoxville Blue Bullets vs. Biggsville West Central Heat

Knoxville had lost six straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-19 to make it seven. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 6-4 to the Biggsville West Central Heat, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Heat this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-4 on Friday.

As for Biggsville West Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-17. That's two games straight that they have won by exactly two runs.

For Biggsville West Central's part, Cooper Gibb made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Gibb has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colton Spence, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Biggsville West Central: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-16 otherwise.

Looking ahead, Knoxville will head out on the road to take on Cuba/Spoon River Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Biggsville West Central, they will host ROWVA/Williamsfield at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Heat surely won't give up without a fight.
