Basketball Recap: Laney Triplett's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Yerington over North Tahoe

Yerington lost against North Tahoe back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Yerington Lions fell 51-42 to the North Tahoe Lakers. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Yerington lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Laney Triplett, who posted 23 points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks. Triplett's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadynn Ramsey, who put up eight points along with nine rebounds and five steals.

Even though they lost, Yerington smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Tahoe only pulled down five offensive boards.

Laura Couwenhoven continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for North Tahoe, going 9 of 11 on her way to 21 points and seven rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Couwenhoven has scored at least a third of North Tahoe's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Cooper, who had 13 points.

Yerington's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 5-7. As for North Tahoe, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-6.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Pershing County the next time they take the court. Yerington will host Pershing County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while North Tahoe will head out to face them at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
