The St. Mary's Ryken Knights will square off against the Northern Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (St. Mary's Ryken 1.2, Northern 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Northern will be up against a hot St. Mary's Ryken squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. The Knights' pitchers stepped up to hand The Academy of the Holy Cross a 14-0 shutout on Monday. Considering the Knights have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Lacey Jones and Mikaela Guy were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Jones tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Guy kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. At bat, Jones scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Guy scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Chadwick, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Myla Harding, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Northern fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Chopticon on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They lost 7-1 to the Braves. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Braves recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
Northern saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Delaney MacAulay, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Brooke MacAulay was another, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
St. Mary's Ryken's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Northern, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
St. Mary's Ryken skirted past Northern 6-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
