Baseball Recap: Byers' Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Byers dropped their record down to 10-9 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Yuma Outlaws, falling 13-3. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Outlaws apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Jack Earl was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Price, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

As for Yuma, they pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

On Yuma's side, Reyli Trejo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Trejo has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lennox Huwa and Alex Pensado did most of the damage at the plate: Huwa went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Pensado went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Pensado has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Christian Thomson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Yuma beat Byers by a score of 18-8 later that day.
