Softball Recap: Parma Has No Trouble Against Payette

Parma had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Payette Pirates 14-2 on Thursday. The Panthers have beaten the Pirates the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Pirates has come to flipping the script.

Wesli Crockett made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Parma got a massive performance out of Kinlea Cole, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Abby Anderson, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Parma has already played their next contest, a 25-0 victory against McCall-Donnelly on the 15th. As for Payette, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 14-3 loss against American Falls on the 15th.
