Softball Game Preview: Skyline Vikings vs. Fort Payne Wildcats

The Skyline Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Fort Payne Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Skyline has given up an average of 7.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Arab hit Skyline with a six-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings lost 12-2 to the Knights. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Vikings couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, Fort Payne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Madison County.

Ava McGinnis made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Fort Payne's loss dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Skyline, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 21 of their last 23 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-29 record this season.

Skyline might still be hurting after the 14-2 defeat they got from Fort Payne in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
