Softball Recap: Southwood Knights vs. Rochester Zebras
Southwood lost to Rochester back in April of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Southwood Knights walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Rochester Zebras.
Natalie Sutphin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts every time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Grace Lambert was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and a run. Rylee Thomas was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
On Rochester's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Bria Rensberger gave up only one earned (and six unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks.
On the hitting side, Aubrey Wilson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and a triple.
Southwood's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Rochester, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
