Softball Recap: St. Martin's Episcopal Beats Bonnabel for Their Third Straight Victory

St. Martin's Episcopal had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bonnabel Bruins a 19-0 shutout. Considering the Saints have won five matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Gianna Mandella made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mandella was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Sophie Miller was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Liv Dunn, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

St. Martin's Episcopal always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .852. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

St. Martin's Episcopal's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Bonnabel, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.
