Basketball Game Preview: Cary Imps vs. Eastern Randolph Wildcats

The Cary Imps and the Eastern Randolph Wildcats will round out the year against one another at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Thursday, Cary came up short against Hoggard and fell 68-59. While losing is never fun, the Imps can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while the Vikings are ranked 38th).

Despite the defeat, Cary had strong showings from Brandon Nixon, who went 7-for-12 en route to 22 points, and Bryson Keith, who shot 43% from the field to rack up 16 points and four steals. Keith is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Adonai Tyrance, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eastern Randolph). They took their game on Saturday with ease, bagging a 97-60 victory over Lee Christian. The Wildcats not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since February 11th (when they won 91-51).

Cary's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-5. Those home defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points over those games. As for Eastern Randolph, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.
