League recap: Mission Bay climbs in state rankings with win

Mission Bay moved up to 314 from 362 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Western. The Buccaneers climbed the ranks as a result of defeating La Jolla 42-7.

Madison extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Kearny, 49-7. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.

Madison's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Warhawks feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Kareem Coles has thrown for 887 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, while Lee Walker has 23 catches for 342 yards. Pierre Cormier leads the league in rushing with 1072 yards.

A big matchup in Western this week will be when the Vikings take on Madison. La Jolla is currently in fourth, while Rick Jackson's team is in first.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Mission Bay takes on Point Loma. Willie Matson's team has allowed 131 points this season, while the Pointers have given up 96. The Buccaneers allowed 7 points last week as they bested Rey Hernandez's team.

Point Loma and Crawford played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Point Loma eventually emerging with a 2-0 victory.
